POWER FOR GOOD

THE KORU FOUNDATION

Our climate is changing and it is the world’s poorest people who are hardest hit. Energy poverty affects the health, education, employment and food production of the most vulnerable. Renewable energy provides an appropriate and low carbon option that does not contribute to Climate Change.

The Koru Foundation enables the Renewable Energy Industry, in partnership with NGOs and charities, to provide sustainable energy solutions for those most in need. Companies can select from a portfolio of projects that currently includes small-scale wind, micro-hydro, a small wind farm and training tool to help impoverished communities implement sustainable solutions to their energy problems.

RES has donated £10,000 which will help support the implementation of a 20kW micro-hydro power station in the isolated community of Chorro Blanco in the north west of Peru.  The project will supply clean, renewable energy to over 60 families replacing the dangerous and unhealthy candles and kerosene lamps currently used, as well as improving health and education facilities, and stimulating local businesses.
