PLANNING APPLICATION PROGRESS
In 2007, South Cambridgeshire District Council's planning committee refused planning consent for Wadlow Farm Wind Farm. RES is of the opinion that this decision is contrary to national and international policies encouraging renewable energy and that the reasons to consent the proposal far outweigh the objections to it. RES has demonstrated, through detailed environmental assessments, that the proposed wind farm would have few detrimental effects on the environment, but would have significant and tangible environmental benefits.
As a result, in November 2007 RES submitted an application to the Planning Inspectorate ('PINS') to appeal the Council's decision. The key element of the appeal process is the public inquiry at which RES, the Council and other interested parties who have registered an interest in the appeal present information relating to the wind farm proposal and discuss its merits and objections.
The public inquiry was organised by PINS and overseen by a Planning Inspector.
It took place over two weeks commencing on Tuesday June 9th 2009. The Planning Inspectorate reference for this case is APP/W0350/1/07/2059471
A decision from PINS is expected in mid-November 2009.
Should you have any questions regarding the public inquiry, you may direct them to the Planning Inspectorate case officer, whose details are available on the contact page.
With ever-mounting evidence of man-induced climate change and an urgent need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, there have never been such strong reasons to construct Wadlow Farm Wind Farm. The site RES has chosen is the best site in South Cambridgeshire for a wind farm with a strong wind resource and few environmental constraints. A wind farm at this site will demonstrate Cambridgeshire's strong commitment to taking action against climate change and securing a renewable, clean and indigenous electricity supply.
